The London Knights kept their perfect playoff record intact with a commanding 5-2 win over the Kitchener Rangers on Friday night at Canada Life Place.
The Knights came out flying, building a 4-0 lead by the end of the first period. Defenseman Sam Dickinson was the standout performer, notching two goals and two assists to earn first star of the game honours.
Special teams also played a key role in the victory. London capitalized on one of their power play opportunities and shut down all four of Kitchener’s man-advantage chances.
This marks the fourth straight season the Knights and Rangers have clashed in the postseason, and the intensity showed — the game featured eight misconducts and nine roughing penalties, most of which were handed out in a scrappy third period.
With the win, London grabs a 1-0 lead in the Western Conference Championship Series. Game 2 is set for Sunday afternoon, once again at Canada Life Place.
