CTV News London is delving deeper into the investigation surrounding a “sudden death” at a long-term care facility in Strathroy, where a woman passed away on Thursday.

In an interview on Friday, Strathroy-Caradoc Police Chief Mark Campbell revealed that the deceased was a 91-year-old female resident of Strathmere Lodge. Campbell stated that both criminal investigators and the Corner’s Office are now actively engaged in the case.

According to Campbell, concerns arose about the resident’s well-being on February 18 following a fall. She was promptly transported to a local hospital for treatment and later returned to the facility. Tragically, she passed away “unexpectedly and suddenly” three days later, on February 21.

Campbell mentioned that investigators are currently liaising with medical professionals and family members. He also underscored the decision to make the case public “in the interest of transparency.”

Although still in its preliminary stages, Campbell explained that officers have completed their physical examination at Strathmere Lodge and are now focusing on the time between the woman’s fall and her passing.

“There is a bit of a time lapse. The initial incident, as we understand, occurred on Sunday,” Campbell clarified. “Our goal is to ensure a thorough examination of the injuries that led to the resident’s demise.”
