A stolen truck tore through an east-end London neighborhood on Wednesday night, leaving a trail of wreckage and rattled residents in its wake.

High-Speed Pursuit Ends in Chaos

Candice Lubick was driving her Mazda 3 eastbound on Brydges Street around 8:00 p.m. when she noticed a black pickup truck being chased by multiple police vehicles.

“They were driving so fast that our car was caught in their draft after every vehicle passed. I had my hands up and said, ‘They’re going to hit us,’” Lubick recalled.

While she initially avoided the chase, seconds later, the truck spun around and slammed into the rear of her vehicle.

Lubick, who had recently undergone abdominal surgery, was rushed to the hospital for observation.

“The tension jarred everything. I have a ton of bruising from the seat belt,” she said, still recovering with stitches from her procedure.

Police Confirm Multiple Vehicles Were Struck

According to London Police, the first encounter with the stolen truck occurred at Dundas Street and Carlyle Avenue, where the driver swerved directly at a police cruiser.

The vehicle then took off, traveling south on Carlyle before speeding west on Admiral Drive.

Police confirmed:

  • Two police cruisers were deliberately rammed
  • Three civilian vehicles were struck

Residents Shocked by ‘Movie-Like’ Scene

Nearby resident Chris Lapping compared the chaotic pursuit to a high-speed video game chase.

“It honestly sounded like something out of GTA-5,” Lapping told CTV News. “I heard the truck scraping up the road because it was running on its rims.”

From his apartment window, he saw three people jump out of the disabled truck, running into a nearby parking lot.

The investigation is ongoing as police continue to search for those responsible for the rampage.
