The London Knights kicked off their Memorial Cup journey with a dominant performance against the Owen Sound Attack on Friday night in the first round of the playoffs.

Facing off against one of the league’s top goaltenders, Carter George—who served as Team Canada’s starter at the World Juniors—the Knights wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. They raced to a commanding three-goal lead by the end of the first period.

While the Attack managed to get one back in the second period, it was as close as they would come to mounting a comeback.

London’s defenseman, Sam Dickinson, played a key role, netting two goals. Four other Knights also contributed to the scoreline. London, who finished atop the OHL standings in the regular season, showed their strength against the eighth-seeded Attack from the Western Conference.

The Knights, who hold home ice advantage throughout the playoffs, will look to extend their lead in game two, which is scheduled for Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Canada Life Place.
