The London Knights hosted the Guelph Storm on Tuesday night, celebrating the 2005 Knights squad before the game. That legendary team, often referred to as the CHL’s team of the century, was honoured for their historic achievements.
The 2005 Knights made history by defeating Sidney Crosby’s Rimouski Oceanic in the Memorial Cup final, securing the franchise’s first-ever national championship. They also set a CHL record to start the season with an unbeaten streak of 31 games.
The Knights seemed to draw inspiration from that unforgettable 2005 team, dominating Guelph with a 7-3 victory. Sam Dickinson played a key role, scoring two goals and adding an assist, while Easton Cowan recorded four assists.
The two teams will meet again tomorrow night, this time in Guelph.
