The London Knights are celebrating the holiday season in style after a dominant victory over the Sarnia Sting on Thursday night. In their final game before the holiday break, the Knights delivered a 5-2 triumph, showcasing a well-rounded team effort and ending the first half of the season on a high note.
Led by standout performances from forward Easton Cowan, who recorded a goal and two assists, and goalie Brett Brochu, who made 28 saves, the Knights controlled the game from start to finish. The team’s power play was particularly effective, capitalizing twice on Sarnia’s penalties.
“It was a complete team effort tonight,” said Knights head coach Dale Hunter. “We’ve been working hard, and it’s great to see the guys rewarded heading into the break.”
The victory improves the Knights’ record to 18-9-1-2, solidifying their position in the upper tier of the OHL standings. For Sarnia, the loss highlighted a tough stretch as they’ve struggled with consistency.
The Knights’ aggressive forechecking and disciplined defensive play kept the Sting at bay for much of the game. London’s special teams also proved decisive, with their penalty kill shutting down Sarnia’s opportunities, including a crucial 5-on-3 advantage.
“I think we’re finding our groove as a group,” said Cowan after the game. “This win gives us a lot of confidence going into the second half of the season.”
The team now takes a well-earned break, with players looking forward to spending time with family and recharging before returning to action on December 28, when they face off against the Kitchener Rangers.
Fans are optimistic about the Knights’ strong form and are hopeful for a deep playoff run as the team builds momentum heading into the new year.
