As a potent low pressure system sweeps through the region, London’s mild and sunny disposition has taken a turn, with heavy rainfall and brisk winds replacing the calm weather. Meteorologist Julie Atchison from CTV News London reports that this vigorous system, accompanied by gusty winds, will arrive Friday night, bringing with it an expected 15 to 25 mm of rain through the night.

The special weather statement currently in effect spans several regions including London-Middlesex, Grey-Bruce, Huron-Perth, Elgin County, Oxford-Brant, and Sarnia-Lambton.

Atchison emphasizes that the majority of the downpour is predicted to occur overnight, stretching into Saturday morning. Following the departure of the rain, cooler air is expected to take over.

Saturday’s early hours in London are forecasted to reach a daytime high of 9°C before the mercury takes a dip in the afternoon.

The incoming colder air will likely transform the remaining rainfall into lake-effect snow flurries by Sunday, with blustery conditions and an anticipated daytime high at the freezing point.
