Cameron Doig, a former golf professional from Seaforth, is heading back to prison after the Ontario Court of Appeal denied his appeal of a previous conviction on Tuesday.
Doig was convicted in September 2022 of sexual offences involving a teenage girl he had taught at the golf course owned by his family in Seaforth. He received a 3.5-year prison sentence for the offences.
After serving part of his sentence, Doig was released from custody in April 2023 while awaiting the outcome of his appeal. Since then, he had been living in Seaforth.
On Tuesday, the Ontario Court of Appeal rejected Doig’s appeal, ordering him to return to prison to complete the remainder of his sentence.
In addition to this conviction, Doig is facing two separate charges of indecent assault on a female. These charges relate to alleged historical sexual offences dating back more than 30 years.
