Students at Sir Wilfrid Laurier Secondary School in London are voicing their concerns after a 16-year-old was allegedly seen with a firearm on campus, leading to a police response and multiple charges.
Police Respond to Weapons Call
London police were called to the school Tuesday after receiving a report about a student carrying a gun. Officers, including undercover personnel, arrived on the scene to investigate.
“I saw police officers walking out of the school, and some of them weren’t even in police uniforms. They looked undercover. That’s when I realized they were cops,” said Grade 11 student Sami Abou-Kowik, recalling the tense situation.
Students Express Fear
For many students, the incident has left them feeling unsafe and unsettled.
“That’s crazy, very dangerous,” said Grade 9 student Nihyla Dowdie, reacting to the news.
The London Police Service confirmed they responded to a weapons call near Millbank Drive and Southdale Road East, following a report from the school’s principal.
Authorities have since laid a dozen charges against the 16-year-old suspect, though further details have yet to be released.
As the school community processes the event, students and parents are left with lingering questions about safety measures and how such incidents can be prevented in the future.
